PCE liquid, short for Polycarboxylate Ether Superplasticizer Liquid, is a third-generation high-performance concrete admixture and one of the most widely used and versatile green water-reducing materials in modern construction. Produced through advanced polymerization technology, it is a water-soluble polymer liquid with a comb-shaped molecular structure.
The product contains no chlorides, alkalis, or harmful impurities and does not cause corrosion or damage to reinforcing steel or the concrete matrix. Its production and application generate no harmful pollutant emissions, supporting the requirements of modern green building and low-carbon construction. With its superior performance and environmental benefits, PCE liquid serves as an advanced alternative to conventional, less efficient concrete admixtures.

Product Advantages
1. High Water Reduction
This grade delivers excellent water reduction at low dosage. It lowers the water-to-binder ratio while maintaining good concrete flowability. It works well for high-strength concrete, self-compacting concrete, precast concrete, and other applications that require high water-reduction efficiency.
2. High Slump-Retention
The high slump-retention PCE liquid features an optimized molecular structure that provides controlled dispersion and sustained performance. It significantly extends concrete slump retention time, making it suitable for hot-weather construction, long-distance transportation of ready-mix concrete, continuous pouring of mass concrete, and high-rise or long-distance pumping applications. It helps maintain concrete workability during transportation and placement while reducing the risks of stiffening, pump blockage, segregation, and other workability issues.
- Ready-Mix Concrete: Suitable for residential buildings, office buildings, municipal roads, utility pipelines, and other construction projects.
- High-Performance Concrete: Used in self-compacting concrete, pumped concrete, fair-faced concrete, impermeable and freeze-resistant concrete, and low-shrinkage concrete.
- Infrastructure Projects: Widely applied to high-speed railways, bridges, tunnels, metro systems, dams, ports, airport runways, and other major infrastructure projects.
- Precast Concrete Components: Suitable for precast box girders, tunnel segments, prefabricated wall panels, cement products, and other precast components.
- Special Construction Conditions: Ideal for hot-weather construction, long-distance concrete transportation, and mass concrete placement where crack control is required.
- High Water Reduction and Strength Improvement. PCE liquid provides excellent water reduction at low dosage. It can significantly reduce the water-to-binder ratio and improve concrete density and compressive strength, making it suitable for C50 and higher-strength concrete.
- Excellent Slump Retention. It provides long-lasting slump retention and stable workability, making it suitable for long-distance transportation, hot-weather construction, and mass concrete placement.
- Low Shrinkage and High Durability. PCE liquid helps reduce concrete shrinkage and cracking while improving resistance to water penetration, freeze-thaw cycles, and carbonation. It is suitable for bridges, tunnels, dams, and other infrastructure projects.
- Excellent Compatibility. It is compatible with various cement types and mineral admixtures, including fly ash, slag, and silica fume. It also offers good resistance to clay interference.
- Green and Environmentally Friendly. PCE liquid contains no formaldehyde, heavy metals, or volatile hazardous substances. It is non-toxic and odorless, with no dust pollution during use, making it suitable for green construction projects.
Usage and Dosage of Polycarboxylate Ether Superplasticizer
1. Recommended Dosage
The typical dosage is 0.1%–0.5% of the total binder weight, including cement, fly ash, and ground granulated blast-furnace slag. For conventional concrete, a dosage of 0.2%–0.3% is generally recommended. For high-strength and high-flow concrete, the recommended dosage is 0.3%–0.5%.
2. Application Method
PCE liquid can be mixed evenly with the mixing water before being added to the mixer. It can also be added during the later stage of concrete mixing. Late addition generally provides better dispersion and slump retention.
The optimum dosage should be determined through trial mixes based on the cement type, aggregate moisture content, construction temperature, and placing method. Avoid excessive dosage, which may cause segregation or bleeding.
3. Dosage Adjustment
For high-temperature conditions or long-distance transportation, the dosage can be increased appropriately, or a high slump-retention grade can be selected. For low-temperature or winter construction, the dosage can be adjusted as needed to maintain a suitable concrete setting and hardening rate.
