Sodium naphthalene sulfonate formaldehyde (SNF/PNS/FND/NSF), also called naphthalene sulfonate formaldehyde condensate, poly naphthalene sulfonate, sulphonated naphthalene formaldehyde, SNF superplasticizer, is commonly referred to as a superplasticizer for concrete. It is the light brown powder in appearance. SNF superplasticizer has a strong dispersion effect on cement particles, and the water reduction rate can reach 15-25%. Therefore, sodium naphthalene is especially suitable for the preparation of high-strength concrete, steam-cured concrete, fluid concrete, impermeable concrete, waterproof concrete, plasticized concrete, steel bars and prestressed reinforced concrete.
The naphthalene sulfonate formaldehyde condensate is made of naphthalene, sulfuric acid, formaldehyde and liquid base, and undergoes a series of reactions such as sulfonation, hydrolysis, condensation and neutralization, and then dried into SNF powder. Of course, different models of naphthalene sulfonate powder also have different technical specifications.

Main Applications of Sodium Naphthalene Sulfonate
(1) SNF superplasticizer can be widely used for various concrete projects such as railways, highways, bridges, hydropower, ports, docks, industrial and civil buildings, prefabricated components, and concrete with sodium sulfate content requirements.
(2) Besides, sodium naphthalene sulfonate (SNF) can be also used as a dispersant agent in the leather, textile and dye industries, etc.
- High water reduction rate. When the water-cement ratio is constant, the initial slump of concrete can be increased by more than 10cm, and the water reduction rate of poly naphthalene sulfonate can reach up to 15-25%. More importantly, when the strength and slump are basically the same, The poly naphthalene sulfonate can also reduce the amount of cement used by 10-25%.
- Good enhancement. The poly naphthalene sulfonate superplasticizer has obvious early strength and enhancement effect on concrete, and the strength increase range is 20-60%.
